Premise[]

Requested by Agnaa (sorta, I offered). Basically, we're sorta iffy on 8-B for some characters and wanna come up with a suitable alternative. I won't get into specifics, ask him, just offered to calc said alternatives.

Basically, the KE and environment destruction of this clip

Calc[]

Kinetic Energy[]

First, KE. According to Agnaa, that cross is explicitly three times as tall as the guy holding it.

That guy is roughly the same height as the dark haired guy. He's 165 cm tall.

So, the cross is ~495 cm tall, which seems fair because even in that video clip it dwarfs those guys. We'll try to get mass- we know the cross is made of steel, and it has those little cuts in it. Because of this, we'll assume ~20% hollowness.

Cross1
CrossThing

So, here we can use the height to scale to the width.

Height of Cross = 101 Pixels = 495 cm

1 Pixel = 4.901 cm

Width of Cross = 87 Pixels = 426.387 cm

Height of Individual Sections = 8 Pixels = 39.208 cm

We will get volume by getting length of the main piece of the cross and the "blades" coming off of it.

Length of Individual Blades = 193.590 cm

Let's compare the length of that middle blade to the depth of the cross (first image).

Width of Blade = 527 Pixels = 426.387 cm

1 Pixel = 0.809 cm

Depth of Blade = 22 Pixels = 17.798 cm

Volume time.

Main Blade = 495 cm x 39.208 cm x 17.798 cm = 345422.872 cm^3

Side Blades = 193.590 cm x 39.208 cm x 17.798 cm = 135091.745 cm^3 (double for obvious reasons)

Total Volume = 615606.362 cm^3 (Subtract 20% to get 492485.09 cm^3)

Density of Steel = 8050 kg/m^3

Mass = 3964.505 kg

Assuming baseline subsonic speed since when we look at the cross moving, the background is speeding by.

KE = 0.5m x v^2 = 2.332e6 Joules, Wall level. Crap.

Destruction[]

Now, for that destruction in the ground. Violent Fragmentation seems fair based on the visuals. We can get length of area destroyed via angsize, and the width is pretty simple, compare to the cross itself. We'll use the same frame as before, the second picture posted above.

Width of Destruction = 45 Pixels = 220.545 cm

From here, this calc functions on the assumption that we're looking at this from the beginning of the destruction, i.e., there is no craters made behind the POV. It seems to make four craters here, each of which is roughly as wide as the one that has the cross planted in it.

Pixel scaling for depth. We will assume the width of the closest crater is the same as the furthest one, which makes sense. 220.545 cm.

Crater = 947 Pixels = 220.545 cm

1 Pixel = 0.233 cm

Depth = 98 Pixels = 21.854 cm

We can get volume of a half ellipsoid with 220.545 as a and b with 21.854 as c, netting us a volume of 2.225e6 cm^3. V. Frag for cement is 69 j/cc, so our value is 1.535e8 Joules, Small Building level. This is just for one crater, and we seem to have about four (though the perspective makes this hard to tell). I'll add a multiplied value as well.

6.141e8 Joules is the multiplied value, Small Building level+

Therefir's Proposal[]

Therefir advised 8 j/cc which is complete downplay call the police seems reasonable to me. I still lean towards V. Frag but eh, what're you gonna do.

8 j/cc is our value. We get 1.780e7 Joules (Wall level+), so multiply by four to get 7.120e7 Joules, Small Building level

So basically just decide how far into 9-A this feat is and we'll be good. This was accepted by Therefir and I've got no issue with it, should add to Agnaa's calcs on the matter, so 9-A seems doable.
