What separates the strong from the weak is the ability to take the beating. Hell, to love the beating - no matter how great the pain, never wavering from what needs to be done. Think you can remember that?
~ Kessler to Cole

Summary

Kessler is the main antagonist of inFAMOUS. Kessler was an alias used by Cole MacGrath when he returned to his past to save his former self from a desolate future. Usurping control of the mentalist faction known as the First Sons from Alden Tate's father, Kessler would later use its assets to accelerate the chain of events that lead to his conception.

Powers and Stats

Tier: At least 7-B

Name: Kessler, Cole MacGrath

Origin: InFAMOUS

Gender: Male

Age: Over a century old

Classification: Human Conduit, First Sons Leader

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Longevity (Kessler has live for over a hundred years, scales to other Conduit's that have been living since the Salem witch trials[1]), Limited Reactive Evolution (Can gain new powers after absorbing massive amounts of electricity[1], by stressing his body by using his powers in different ways, he can either gain new abilities or improve upon his current ones[1]), Accelerated Development (Leveling - Kessler gains more "experience points" the more he uses his powers, restrain or kill his opponents, which can be used to upgrade his pre-existing abilities and physical attributes like his durability, attacking strength e.t.c.[1], Other and Abilities - Though absorbing copious amounts of electricity, Kessler quickly developments and unlocks new powers and abilities[1], Physical Stats - The more electricity that Kessler has, the stronger he is[2]), Awakened Power (Depending of what moral actions that Kessler has committed he'll gain new powers and abilities[1]), Expert Hand to Hand Combatant (Kessler has shown to be easily capable of using high level hand-to-hand techniques in combat[1]), Enhanced Senses and Extrasensory Perception (Emotion Vision, Neutral Vision, Telescopic Vision, Enhanced Sight and Life Detection With Radar Pulse and Precision - Kessler can sense electricity within every object and human being around him[1], the hostile intent within someone[1], which even allows him to see through the disguises and shapeshifting of Reaper Conduits[1], the "state" of his opponents, allowing him to know if his opponents are dead or alive[1], the exact placement of Blast Cores/Shards which are[1] objects that don't even have electricity within them but rather heavy amounts of radiation from the explosion of the Ray Field Inhibitor[2] and the non-physical, invisible people created through residual neuro-electrical energy[1], Precision "zooms in" Kessler's perception, allowing him to see farther distances then normal[1]), Clairvoyance (His Radar Pulse creates a map of the nearby environment, allowing him to pinpoint the locations of electric phenomena such as enemies, energy sources, Blast Shards, and dead-drops[1]), Acrobatics (Hypermobility and All-Terrain Mobility - Kessler is[1] incredibly agile[1], even while being heavily damaged[1], can perfectly balance himself on thin poles[1] and telephone wires without losing equilibrium[1], even while he’s being attacked[1] or the ground is giving way underneath him[1], can easily navigate through collapsing structures[3], can leap extremely high and long distances, such as jumping from a sinking aircraft carrier back to land in a single bound[4] and seemingly able to reach helicopters in mid-air[5]), Regeneration (Low-Mid - Should scale to Forced Conduits who can regrow limbs[2], can regenerate gunshots from automatic turrets[1], assault rifles[1], and magnums[2]), Immortality and Resurrection (Type 3 - Kessler can regenerate from internal organ damage from automatic turrets[1], assault rifles[1] and magnums[2], and Limited Type 4 - If Kessler still possesses a heart his electricity will re jumpstart his vitals after 5-6 minutes[6]), Limited Precognition (Gets visions of himself in the future using new powers after overcharging himself, giving him instant knowledge on how to use them[1]), Energy Manipulation, Energy Projection, Electricity Manipulation, Magnetism Manipulation and Telekinesis (Kessler's main ability as a Conduit is that of Electrokinesis, the creation, manipulation and overall control over Electricity[1], such control grants Kessler a litany of powerful and helpful abilities, which includes things like controlling electricity to form bolts of lighting, grenades which stick onto Kessler's opponents[1] or rockets of condense electricity which detonates on contact[1], this can also be used to project arcs of electricity that can onto grab objects such as large trucks[7], jet fuel canisters[8] and can even be used to redirect the attacks of others[9] such as rocket missiles[10]), Limited Heat Manipulation and Aura (Explosive - Electricity - Kessler passively creates lighting[1] around his body[1], this aura can become lethal if Kessler is bloodlusted or not[11], Kessler's lightning possesses tremendous amounts of heat within it, even while at his weakest it can casually vaporize large chunks of steel instantly[1], which is consistently shown[12], Kessler's Lightning Storm creates even more heat, being able to heavily damage and burn those[13] who're resistant towards the heat[14] of his regular lightning bolts[15]), Non-Physical Interaction (Non-Corporeal - Scales to Cole who can interact with and destroy the illusions of both Sasha[1] and Kessler[1]), Gliding (Kessler can glide through air through the use of his electricity[1]), Explosion Manipulation (Kessler can create condense balls of electricity which generate large electrical explosions with Shock Grenade[1] and Megawatt Hammer[1]), Homing Attack (Redirected Megatwatt Hammers home directly onto Kessler's opponents[1]), Weather Manipulation (Kessler can generate large clouds which can be used to call down massive bolts of lightning[1]), Weapon Creation (Kessler can manipulate the physical structure of his lighting, coating it around his arms to create baldes of lighting[1]), Paralysis Inducement, Pain Manipulation and Status Effect Inducement (Can paralyze the physical movements of his opponents[1] and induce heart attacks with his lightning[1], this is further backed up by Kessler's electricity which does the same[1]), Limited Sealing (Can seal away the physical movements of his opponents with Arc Restraint[1], Shock Grenades apply this effect onto others as well[1]), Absorption, Forcefield Creation, Matter Manipulation (Marco-Quantum), Power Nullification, Death Manipulation, and Durability Negation (Electricity - Kessler can absorb the neuro-electricity within someone's nervous system through physical interaction with the opponents brain, doing so heals Kessler's wounds, completely restore his electricity supplies and leaves the opponent in a dead, unresponsive state[1], Kessler can absorb the electricity from anything that possesses it, such as telephone booths[1], automobiles[1], or generators, either actively[1] or passively depending on if its an "open source" or not[1], Polarity Wall creates a electromagnetic shield out in front of Kessler which transforms anything that interacts with it into pure electricity which is absorbed by Kessler as fuel, this extends to physical attacks[1], creates and manipulates Electrons and Ions given his control over electricity[16], Kessler can also fry the brain of his opponent[17] or induce heart attacks with his electricity[1]), Healing (Can heal others by using his electricity to stimulate molecules into a state of regeneration[1], this extends to even extremely potent poisons such as[1] Sasha's Tar, Kessler is capable of healing his own wounds through regaining electricity either through absorbing it directly from a source[1], reaping bioelectricity from others[1], passively regaining it through any lighting bolt that connects with his opponent[1], getting headshots on his opponent[1] or grinding on electric filled objects like train tracks and telephone pole wires[1]), Limited Telepathy (Can view the memories of the recently deceased by draining their neuroelectrical energy[1]), Vibration Manipulation, Limited Gravity Manipulation and Attack Reflection (Can generate kinetic shockwaves which can push away others[1], reflect physical projectiles[1], can also put people in a pseudo static lock, causing them to float helplessly in the air for a couple of seconds[1], other of Kessler's abilities are capable of this "static lock" effect like Megawatt Hammer[1]), Limited Technology Manipulation (Can cause technology and machines to short circuit or combust with a mere touch[1]), Damage Boost and Self-Perception Manipulation (Kessler slows down his perception of time while he moves and aims in real-time, as well as allowing him to "zoom in" onto targets with Precision[1], can "overcharge" his regular lightning bolts to make them stronger, doubling the damage[1], can condense electricity into the form of blades and apply them to his arms to increase his striking capabilities[1]), Empowerment (Kessler's strength is dependent on the amount of electricity that's within his body, which means the more electricity in his body the more powerful he is[1], can increase his movement speed through grinding on objects that have electricity running through them like telephone pole wires or train tracks[1]), Statistics Amplification (Kessler can coat himself in electricity, allowing him to physically travel faster[1], Kessler can increase his speed to the point of making it seem like teleportation, allowing him to instantly travel large[1] or short distances[1] and even blitzing the perception of those who're normally equal to Kessler's base speed like[1] Cole MacGrath), Time Travel (Kessler can travel multiple decades back in time and even travel to different timelines like Cole's timeline[1]), Summoning, Invisibility, Extrasensory Perception and Enhanced Senses Negation (Able to summon First Son drones to aid him in combat, which can turn invisible and can't be detected[1] by the like of Cole MacGrath with his Radar Pulse), Vibration Manipulation and Air Manipulation (Can create earthquakes by punching the ground, can create shockwaves by waving his fists[1]), Duplication (Can create electrical doppelgangers of himself that can invoke mental damage upon physical contact[1]), Mind Manipulation (Kessler can mentally attack his enemies via Phantasms, they are potent enough to easily bypass the mental defenses[1] of Cole MacGrath who can resist the tar of Sasha), Memory Manipulation (Can implant his memories into a person via physical contact[1], said injection also renders the person temporarily incapacitated[1]), Light Manipulation and Perception Manipulation (His Phantasms can obscure the opponent's vision by blinding them with light the closer they get, making it difficult to see them[1]), Possibly Acausality (Type 1 - Was completely unaffected by changes in the timeline[1], was perfectly content with killing Cole in their battle and searching for a replacement to combat The Beast, implying he would've been unaffected by the death of his past self[1], however, since the mechanics of time travel in InFAMOUS are never elaborated on, we don't know if this is simply due to Multiverse theory or not)

Scales to the resistances of InFamous 1 Cole MacGrath

Attack Potency: At least City level (Was able to fight on par with and damage[1] Cole MacGrath)

Speed: Massively Hypersonic+ (Can casually dodge Cole's lightning bolts)

Lifting Strength: Unknown (Physically overpowered Cole in the beginning of their struggle[1]). Class 50 with Magnetic Telekinesis (Comparable to his past self)

Striking Strength: At least City level (Can damage Cole MacGrath with his punches[1] and earthquakes[1])

Durability: At least City level (Withstood several attacks from an enraged[1] Cole MacGrath)

Stamina: Limited Infinite (Kessler constantly regenerates electricity without the need of an electrical source to absorb from, effectively making his total supplies infinite), Superhuman (Scales directly from Cole MacGrath)

Range: Standard Melee Range; Kilometers (Scales to Cole MacGrath)

Standard Equipment: None notable

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius (Is an incredibly advanced scientist, who used his knowledge to sky-rocket the development of the First Sons organization and their technology, which is hundreds of years more advanced than the rest of the world and leaves even the most brilliant modern scientists in shock and making them think they've been abducted by aliens. Likely developed his own cybernetic devices that he wears, and created the Ray Sphere in a few decades, a device that originally took over a century to perfect. Is also incredibly skilled in espionage and tactical maneuvering, able to easily overwhelm his opponents in the midst of combat and exploit the slightest weaknesses. Tricked the government into funding and authorizing the First Sons experiments, and kept them from finding out about his true plans until it was too late. Planned the Empire City Quarantine for decades and planned the entirety of the events of inFAMOUS 1 in perfect detail up until his death. Has extensive knowledge of the future (as it is history where he comes from) and made numerous "predictions" that were never once wrong. Has over a century of experience dealing with various different types of Conduits and honing his own powers)

Weaknesses: Using too much electricity will exhaust him, leaving him temporarily vulnerable (After being exhausted, he will regain his stamina and electrical energy in a few seconds). Whether or not he still has the same weaknesses as Cole (water, electricity discharge, etc.) is unknown.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

  • Superhuman Speed: Kessler utilizes his superhuman speed to travel across vast distances in an instant, turning into a blur and appearing as if he had teleported. He is fast enough to to instantly move from a low rooftop to the top of a skyscraper in less than a second, before the dust cloud from his previous position could dissipate. He is able to casually dodge bullets and Cole's lightning bolts.
  • Shockwave: Can generate powerful shockwaves of kinetic energy by waving his hands. He is also able to control the power and knockback effect of his shockwaves, as he can severely harm Cole while only knocking him off his feet, and send Zeke flying several city blocks away with no injuries.
  • Superhuman Strength: With his immense superhuman strength, Kessler is able to casually punch the ground hard enough to create a violent earthquake across a six-city block radius. Powerful enough to tear up the landscape, cause harm to Cole MacGrath, and send cars flying (should any spawn during the fight).
  • Electrical Doppelgangers: Can summon multiple electrical clones of himself. These clones possess an aura that automatically electrifies nearby conductive surfaces, and inflict mental damage upon contact with the enemy. The potency of their psychic attacks are strong enough to damage Cole MacGrath, who could previously resist city-scale mind control and telepathy with ease. In addition, the clones can also obscure an opponent's vision with blinding white light when in close proximity.
  • Overload Burst: A vastly superior version of Cole's own attack. Kessler quickly charges up energy, then fires a devastating blast of lightning that damages and paralyzes the target. Kessler usually fires these blasts in four consecutive shots. While they cause only minor damage to electrically-resistant enemies like Cole, they are still able to stun them momentarily.
  • Magnetic Telekinesis: Creates a large web of electromagnetic arcs and tethers that paralyze enemies and give Kessler telekinetic control over them, allowing him to rag-doll them across the battlefield with ease. He is seen using this ability to control the battlefield, preventing the enemy from escaping and throwing them into favorable positions to give himself a tactical advantage.
  • Ball Lightning Grenades: Creates and launches a volley of highly-condensed grenades of electrical and kinetic energy. These grenades function similar to landmines, exploding once an enemy is within close enough proximity to deal the most damage. If the opponent is in a position that Kessler cannot reach or is unfavorable to him, he will spam throw these grenades to force them out. A downside is that these grenades can be prematurely detonated by the opponent and cause harm to Kessler himself.
  • Psychokinetic Attacks: Kessler possesses a wide-array of psychic attacks to inflict mental damage upon opponents, such as his electrical clones causing blinding pain directly on the mind, as well as injecting his memories into the opponent to overwhelm and temporarily incapacitate them.
  • Memory Injection: Used on Cole MacGrath multiple times, Kessler can show people visions of a dark and violent future, filled with "horrible things beyond description". The trauma and intensity of these visions will severely overwhelm the target. If he wishes, Kessler can also pass on all of his memories to the target in great detail.
  • Bio-Leech: Used against Cole MacGrath, Kessler also possesses the ability to absorb a target's bioelectric energy to heal and recharge himself, simultaneously shutting down the opponent's body and killing them instantly, ignoring durability in the process, however, due to Cole's resistance towards his electricity being absorbed from him, he was only briefly stunned with no loss of his energy reserves.
  • Summoning: Kessler summons three First Sons combat drones. These drones will fire swaths of grenades to overwhelm the opponent, and can turn invisible. While invisible, the drones cannot be detected by the likes of Cole MacGrath, even while using his Radar Pulse.
  • Time Travel: This ability allows Kessler to travel into the past of his or another person's timeline, the max amount of time that Kessler can travel back is ultimately unknown but given the feats has he can at least travel half a century back in time.
