|“||You may have huge, invisible spiders living in your skull. THIS IS NOT A METAPHOR. You will dismiss this as ridiculous fearmongering. Dismissing things is, in fact, the first symptom of parasitic spider infection: The spider secretes a chemical into the human brain to stimulate skepticism, in order to prevent you from seeking a cure.||„|

The Spiders are a mysterious class of extradimensional lifeform that invades the bodies of humans and takes control of them. During the events of This Book is Full of Spiders, an outbreak of the spiders spreads across the small town of [UNDISCLOSED], turning their hosts into monstrous beasts. As they are paranormal beings invisible to normal people, REPER calls them Zulu and claims that they spread via some invisible contagion to play on the public fear of zombies, in a ploy to get the public to campaign for the city's destruction.
Throughout the story, it is implied that the spiders actually exist harmlessly throughout nearly all of humanity, and only became harmful due to the efforts of a mysterious group known as Them, which REPER works for - implied to be working in service of Korrok and his inscrutable goals.
