Introduction[]
In My Hero Academia, All Might unleashes his Detroit Smash and creates a tornado so powerful it brings a nearby thunderstorm. I'll be calculating the kinetic energy of this feat.
Calculation[]
Since there were no dark clouds in the vicinity before All Might brought the storm, we're going to use maximum distance to the horizon as the storm's radius.
Storm Radius = 20 km (The maximum view to the horizon is 20 kilometers on clear days. The average storm tends to be around this size)
Storm Height = 8 km (Cumulonimbus clouds are at least 8 kilometers high)
We put these values on this Cylinder Calculator to get the volume of this storm.
Storm Volume = 10053.10 km^3 or 10053100000000 m^3
Density of cloud air is 1.003 kg/m^3.
Storm Mass = 10053100000000 x 1.003 = 10083259300000 kg
Now we have to calculate the speed at which All Might moved the storm.
Timeframe = 10 seconds (The time it takes for the clear horizon line shot to leave [0:34] to the time it takes for the dark clouds to appear [0:44])
Distance Covered = 20 km or 20000 m
Speed = 20000/10 = 2000 m/s
Then we can find the kinetic energy generated by pulling this storm with a tornado.
Kinetic Energy = 1/4*10083259300000*(2000)^2 = 10083259300000000000 Joules
Final Tally[]
All Might's Attack Potency = 2.41 Gigatons of TNT (Large Mountain level)
