More My Little Pony Speed Feats, yaaaay!
I remember looking at this scene today and thinking "huh, that's pretty fast, let's go and calc it to see how fast!" and I was surprised. (once again, apologies, I can't post pics or videos at the moment)
When Celestia and Luna are fighting in the Season 4 Premiere, Celestia is hit dead on with a blow, and decides to bust out the Elements of Harmony against her. After firing and easily winning a beam clash, she sends Luna straight up to the moon and banishes her. Thing is, the beam is actually seen in real time going all the way to the moon, so we can actually calc the speed of the attack.
The beam reaches from the ground to the moon in approx. 3 seconds based on my handy-dandy stopwatch, so first we take the distance of the Earth from the moon (238,855 miles) and multiply it by 20 to see how far this beam could go in a minute.
238,855 miles * 20 = 4,777,100 miles per minute.
Then we multiply by 60 to get the mph.
4,777,100 miles per minute * 60 = 286,626,000 mph.
We then divide by 768 to get the Mach Speed.
286,626,000 mph / 768 = Mach 373,210.938, or 42.362195% the speed of light.
So yeah, Relativistic beam speed in My Little Pony, who would've thought that? Certainly not me.
OH, it gets even better now after I thought about it some more. During the beam struggle, Luna's beam is clearly seen as going equal speed to that of the EoH beam, and Celestia is able to react to and dodge the beam several times beforehand, which gives her relativistic+ reactions. This gets scaled to all the Alicorns. In addition, Discord andSombra reacted to beams as well, so they ALSO get relativistic+ reactions, as does Tirek since he took his power and speed DIRECTLY FROM the Alicorns. Chrysalis is debatable, though I'm willing to give her the scaling as well.
