Invader Zim Calc: NOT SCIENTIFICALLY POSSIBLE
Wasp pestered me out of my slumber to do this, for the pure and simple fact that I do love me some Invader Zim. Doctor Membrane speed blitzes a poor citizen who speaks of falsehoods and insane mutterings of the mad. NO ONE is as excited for Peace Day as Doctor Membrane. NO ONE. In laymen's terms, Doctor Membrane crosses an entire stadium in seconds to put someone in their place.
We need to angsize, but we have two opportunities to do so. The first being this frame, which is clearer but has a weird angle on Membrane's shoulder (and, frankly, very inconsistent size for people in the crowd- despite receding into the background, the figures in the not-immediate crowd all remain basically the same drawn size). The other is here, which shows Doct…
Maleghast Calc: Frozen Winds
Maleghast features an ability that generates a wind across the entire battlefield strong enough to shift all creatures violently enough to deal lethal damage. Given some of our guys are pretty big, this ain't a bad feat.
First we need volume of the space affected. As noted in my earlier calculations, the example battlefields have a space of eight tiles by eight tiles. Since we've already noted tiles to be approximately 98.17 meters long, this gives us a ground area of 7.8536^2, or 61.68 m^2.
For height, we will use an assumption. All of these locales take place in vast subterranean sections of a necropolis. For the purposes of a skirmish, let us assume a height of at least three stories for the wind affected, as this would reasonably cover …
Maleghast Calc: Destroying a Wall
Perhaps the game's most impressive feat is certain enemies destroying entire wall sections mid-combat. Some do this with abilities, others by attacks, and some by just walking through them. Let's calculate it.
Using an example of the above, the CGIS Weapon destroys wall segments it walks into using its Juggernaut ability. Since it takes up a 2x2 space on the battleboard, this means that it can destroy two walls with a single movement.
As previously discussed in our other calculations on the verse, a tile is about 98.17 cm wide. I'd like it known that this one I'm a little less certain on using the tutorial images provided for, simply because these walls are tall enough to block out creatures much larger than a human, and this pillar is visib…
Maleghast Calc: Splash Damage
In Maleghast, there is a specific descriptor of an ability called "splash", that basically means an attack is AOE and strikes adjacent spaces. The Ammo Goblin in particular can perform a splash damage effect called "Destructive Glee", which self-destructs the goblin to deal damage in an AOE. We're going to calculate this explosion.
First, we need to know the size of a space, since Maleghast offers no hard-set stated values for this. Worry not, it does have informational images that we can use to glean their approximate size.
The skeleton is hunched over ever so slightly (must be a fan of League of Legends), so we'll account for that by knocking off a few centimeters from the usual size. Let's call him 165 cm to be conservative.
Skeleton = 237…
Maleghast Calc: OBLITERATION
In the tabletop war game Maleghast, there's a feature called "Obliterate", which removes body and soul from play- the game focuses on necromancers and their maintained undead armies, so removing the elements from which something might be revived is a fairly major concern. This can be done to any enemy, even the ones that are known to take up 2x2 spaces instead of 1x1.
I'll treat this as pulverization, since in-game there are enemies that have already had most of their body destroyed by this- it would take something awful to truly make a corpse unusable, is what I'm getting at, and pulverization is the lowest end of that. We have an accepted calculation for human pulverization, I have no idea if it holds up and it doesn't reference where the…
