~ The Shadow Nightmares before their final attempt at killing Link

Summary

The creatures known only as the Shadow Nightmares are the main antagonist and final boss of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening.

They desired to rule over the dream world created by the Wind Fish, and to do so they put him into an endless sleep to ensure that they and the rest of Koholint Island would never disappear. However when Link entered the dream they worried he'd wake up the Wind Fish, in response to his arrival the nightmares began creating monsters in an attempt to stop Link before finally be forced to confront him themselves. Ultimately they were destroyed by the hero, who soon after awakened the Wind Fish.
