Summary

Sauron (or Þauron (Thauron); Quenya; IPA: [ˈsaʊron] or Vanyarin; IPA: [ˈθaʊron] - "The Abhorred"), the eponymous Lord of the Rings, was a fallen Maia, the creator of the One Ring, and the most trusted lieutenant of his master Melkor (Morgoth, the first Dark Lord). After Melkor's defeat in the First Age, Sauron became the second Dark Lord and strove to conquer Arda (Middle-earth), creating the Rings of Power for this purpose. In the Second Age, he was defeated in the War of the Last Alliance by the last line of defense: Elves and Men under kings Gil-galad and Elendil.

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Powers and Resistances of the Ainur (Abilities and Resistances of the Greater Maiar from "Within the confines of Eä"), Flight, Regeneration (Low-Godly), Immortality (Types 1, 3 and 4), Shapeshifting, Size Alteration, Elemental Manipulation, Fire Manipulation, Metal Manipulation (Magically superior to the Witch-King), Poison and Fear Manipulation (Superior to the Nazgûl, having granted them all their powers) Necromancy, Illusion Creation, Transmutation, skilled blacksmith, craftsman and strategist, has control over the One Ring and its vast military, Precognition, Invulnerability (The Ainur are immune from harm via conventional weaponry, as seen when, upon unlocking more of his divine power, Gandalf became invulnerable), Resistance to Death Manipulation (In Lord of the Rings the land of the dead is a real tangible place, Mandos, and can be affected and exited. Ainur don't go there upon death, rather becoming spirits until the regenerate. The only way to keep them there is if they are physically brought there and held by physical might), Intangibility and Incorporeality (At the very least in Spirit form), Acausality (Type 2; Changes to the past or future are unable to affect the "Music in being", otherwise referred to as the present)[1] as a verse-wide ability. Resistance to Mind Manipulation (The barrier of Unwill within every individual mind prevents mental penetration by even the likes of Sauron without consent.)[2] and Soul Manipulation (Soul with free-will are considered indestructible)[3] due to verse-wide resistances

Powers and Resistances of the Ainur (Abilities and Resistances of the Greater Maiar from "Prior to entering Eä"), Resistance to Mind Manipulation and Soul Manipulation due to verse-wide resistances.

Attack Potency: High Universe level (Described as Morgoth's greatest named servant in regards to might, making him superior to both Gothmog and Ancalagon the Black.[4] As chief among Morgoth's Maiar, he is almost certainly one of the Greater Maiar, something supported by descriptions of Sauron as a "greater spirit" across notes, and due to his feats of combatting Huan. Huan slew a Silmaril empowered Carcharoth, and Sauron combatted him while in a weakened state due to Luthien's abilities.[5][6] This is especially notable as Silmarils were created with the light of the Two Trees, the greatest creation of Yavanna, and have been depicted harming the likes of a diminished Morgoth)[7] | High Universe level, higher with the One Ring (Was said to have grown stronger by the Second Age, to the point were he became "greater" than Morgoth was at the end of the First Age.[8] With the creation of the One Ring, it is said that his powers were enhanced even further)[9] | At least Large Mountain level, possibly High Universe level (The Downfall of Numenor was said to have drained a lot his power, to the extent that he had not yet fully recovered by the time of the Last Alliance.[10] However, he should still be above the likes of Ancalagon the Black, as it was said that the powers of the One Ring were untouchable by the latter's flames.[11] Moreover, as he still possessed the One Ring, which contained much of his "strength and will", it is possible that he is still comparable to his earlier keys)[12] | At least Mountain level, likely far higher (Despite being severely weakened, Sauron was still capable of casually performing this feat as a mere message.[13] Was far above the likes of Gandalf the White, with the latter admitting that "black is mightier still")[14] | Low Complex Multiverse level (The Ainur, as described by Eru, are considered to be powerful and genuine entities, being capable of shaking the Timeless Voids as a result of their strife during the Music of the Ainur. As beings that exist in a realm beyond the world depicted in The Lord of the Rings, the Ainur perceive the space-time of Eä as a lower and secondary plane of existence, with them dwelling alongside Eru within the Timeless Halls, a higher and more primary level of existence)[15]

Speed: At least Supersonic+ to High Hypersonic, Massively FTL+ combat speed and reactions, Infinite when discarding his physical form (Should be superior to the likes of Ancalagon the Black), Infinite when discarding his physical form (While no longer capable of travelling to the future, the Ainur were still capable of travelling at any speeds they desired, being able to instantly appear anywhere they desired within Eä)[16][17] | At least Supersonic+ to High Hypersonic, Massively FTL+ combat speed and reactions, Infinite when discarding his physical form (Superior to his First Age self) | At least Supersonic+ to High Hypersonic, Massively FTL+ combat speed and reactions (Should still be superior to the likes of Ancalagon the Black), Infinite when discarding his physical form | At least Supersonic+ to High Hypersonic (Superior to the Balrogs and Gandalf the White) | Immeasurable (In their origin, the Ainur were unbound by space-time, and were capable of exploring both the past and future with their movements)[16]

Lifting Strength: At least Class E, likely far higher (Should be comparable to both Curumo and Olórin) | Immeasurable

Striking Strength: High Universe level | High Universe level, higher with the One Ring | At least Large Mountain level, possibly High Universe level | At least Mountain level, likely far higher | Low Complex Multiverse level

Durability: High Universe level | High Universe level, higher with the One Ring (Was capable of withstanding the lightning of Manwë, although the latter was merely sending a warning to the Numenoreans, and was not using his full power)[18] | At least Large Mountain level possibly High Universe level | At least Mountain level, likely far higher | Low Complex Multiverse level

Stamina: Superhuman (The bodies of the Ainur are described as being akin to clothing, which they can discard at will. Lesser Maiar than Sauron have been known to fight for days) | Infinite

Range: Extended Melee Range, Thousands of Kilometers with weather manipulation. Thousands of Kilometers with telepathy (Could use telepathy against Galadriel from across the continent) | Low Complex Multiversal

Standard Equipment: Morgul Blades, the One Ring

Intelligence: Genius (An extremely skilled craftsman and blacksmith, as well as a master manipulator and trickster. Successfully tricked the Eregion Elves into forging the rings of power, tricked Numenor into attacking the Valar, spread the worship of Melkor and made entire nations worship him as a God | Possibly Nigh-Omniscient (The Ainur acted as the origin to all that which existed within Eä, having sung all the concepts which constitute the world during the Anulindalë. However, Eru himself withheld some knowledge about his creation from the Ainur)

Weaknesses: None notable | None notable, although following the creation of the One Ring, its destruction may permanently cripple Sauron | Prior to the Last Alliance, Sauron is not weakened if he does not wear the One Ring, however, following the Last Alliance he appears to need possession of the Ring to regain his power, and if his ring is destroyed, then he loses all the power he has left | If his ring is destroyed, then he loses all the power he has left | None notable
