Because I heard the echo... of Yato and Yuzuriha's desperate voices!. They were strong enough to pull me up from the edge of darkness... They told me to believe in the path I chose... to finish what I started!. Because this path is a path that everyone has helped me along!!!. We will not make death a salvation. We will survive through supporting each other!... and that is the way of life that you once knew as well, Alone!!!
~ Pegasus Tenma to Alone.

Summary

Pegasus Tenma is the main protagonist of the Saint Seiya spin-off/alternate universe story The Lost Canvas, written and drawn by Shiori Teshirogi. He is the Pegasus Saint of the 18th Century and the reincarnation of the Mythological Pegasus Saint who's destined to battle against Hades. An orphan born from the Japanese lord Yōma and the German maid Partita, he grew up in the outskirts of a small town in Italy alongside Sasha and Alone, who were respectively the incarnation of Athena and the receptacle of Hades.

Tenma had always been a prodigy in the control of Cosmos, even when he was completely unaware of its existence, claiming to have felt the "Universe within his body" since he was born. At age 12, he was discovered by the young Gold Saint Dohko, who was astounded with his talent and took him to the Sanctuary. He once again proved to be a prodigy, being trained by Libra Dohko and finishing his training in only three years, after this he is trained by Gemini Deuteros, who helps him to perfect his skills and obtain a power close to a Gold Saint.

In reality, Tenma's power is due to the fact that he is the reincarnation of the Pegasus Saint, a mighty warrior of Athena's army, who has fought against the gods in the past. His father Yōma is the Greek God Kairos, god of momentary time and younger brother of Chronos, who had impregnated a woman destined to give birth to the Pegasus Saint of that era, in an attempt to create a biological weapon he could use against Olympus. During his final battle, Tenma fought against Alone and was able to resist some attacks. However, he is defeated and seriously wounded by his opponent, but thanks to the help of the Cosmos of his friends and the Saints in that place, he was able to rejoin the battle and wound Alone's body with a last attack that accumulated the Cosmos of all the Saints in that place. In the end, he, Alone and Sasha sacrificed their lives in a final attack that opened the path of the gods (Superdimension) and sent Hades' soul to Elysium.
