Republic P-47N Thunderbolt in flight

 Summary

The P-47 Thunderbolt was an escort fighter designed in 1941. Early on in the war it carried out escort missions and bombing missions on key targets. Heavy example of its use for a bomber fighter was in Italy. Constant improvement to the planes design continued but it eventually lost its need as an escort fighter to the P-51D due to increasing demands for range and low altitude speed, however the P-47 remained in service until past the end of the war. the P-47 was retired from service by all nations in 1966, with the last built P-47 was shipped out in October 1945.
