Summary
Multilocation is the ability to exist in multiple places at the same time either across space, time or even both, but not everywhere. Thus, it can be considered a subtype of Omnipresence. The extension of this ability can escalate from occupying the entirety of relatively small areas, such as a house, to sensibly larger spaces, including planets, galaxies or even universes, effectively reaching levels of Nigh-Omnipresence.
It can be related, but not limited, to Avatar Creation, Hive Mind, and high levels of Duplication and Large Size. This ability can also be achieved through more exotic means, such as speed, Spatial Manipulation and more. Please note that characters who only demonstrate to possess clear-cut cases of Hive Mind (such as the Mind Flayer), Avatar Creation (such as Darkseid) and Duplication (such as Naruto Uzumaki) should only have said abilities listed on their profile, in order to avoid redundancy.
To qualify for this ability, a single character or entity must be able to extend their physical or incorporeal presence over more than one location indefinitely, and have their consciousness spread all over said places, actively or passively, instead of being focused only in a single spot, such as a brain or a core.
Examples
Multilocation is a very broad and versatile ability, which encompasses many forms and aspects. Some common examples, which don't necessarily include all possible forms, can be described as follows:
Type 1 - Incorporeal Presence: Those whose incorporeal essence dwells in many places at once, covering an area of variable size. This type encompasses intangible entities related to the material plane, such as those made of energy or magic, and beings that are entirely spiritual or abstract. Such characters can be associated to a specific concept, object or place, with which they have a strong relationship, but it's also totally possible for them to not have clear boundaries.
- Users: The Ur-Dragon (Magic: The Gathering), Discord (My Little Pony), Kamui (Kill the Past)
Type 2 - Physical: Characters that are entirely physical or intangible but still related to the material plane. The former can exist as a number of separate beings (sometimes with a main unity and many lesser or equal iterations), or a single large creature whose true self exists in every part of the body, instead of being limited to a brain or a core. The latter can instead be made of natural elements and such, and might share a connection to the environment like Type 1 characters
- Users: Zan (Post-Rebirth) (DC Comics), Najimi Ajimu (Medaka Box), Harman Smith (Kill the Past), Uatu the Watcher (Ultimate Marvel)
Possible Uses
- Enhanced Awareness - The character is able to perceive some, or even all the events that occur where his self dwells, either with their own senses or with more elaborate forms of perception.
- Immortality - Killing one iteration of the character may prove insufficient to terminate the greater being, as they still exist elsewhere. To definitely kill these characters, one may even need to destroy everything that bounds them to reality, ranging from things made of conventional matter, to more ethereal factors. Please note that Multilocation users aren't inherently immortal, and there must be good reasons to attribute any type of immortality to them.
- Multiple Interaction - As the character exists in multiple places, they can interact with the environment in different ways depending on the nature of their power, including performing many and different actions at the same time in different places, appear everywhere within the limits of their influence.
Possible Limitations
- Limited Influence - Being bound to something doesn't always mean you can affect such thing. Therefore, a character associated with a certain object or place, may not have direct or total control over it. This encompasses even those cases where a character's essence is dormant, sealed or turned off in such places, due to a plethora of reasons, limiting their cognition and freedom.
- Limited Cognition - Despite the greater essence being spread over a large area, a character may be able to focus their consciousness only in a single place at time, with the need of actively shifting their attention elsewhere in order to perform actions there.
- Power Struggle - Similarly to the first item of this list, a character may be unable to exert control over different iterations of their own being if they were to develop self-awareness or independence. The same can occur if the control the greater being has over them starts to weaken or fades away.
