Summary
The M45 Tactical Shotgun, formally known as the Tactical Shotgun, is a shotgun used by the United Nations Space Command Army alongside the M90 Close Assault Weapon System, a functionally identical copy designed by Weapon System Technologies. The M45 Tactical Shotgun is a special-purpose weapon used in any situation where the range of engagement is close and limited and when over-penetration is not desirable, but maximum stopping power is required.
The M45D Tactical Shotgun is an upgraded version of the M45 Tactical Shotgun. The differences between the M45 and the M45D are mostly cosmetic, as the 45D retains the standard six-round internal magazine and firing mechanism. The M45D is unexpectedly comfortable to fire and simple to control, despite the shotgun's powerful 8 gauge cartridge and light weight due to the M45D's magnetorheological recoil dampening system. The M45D shotgun does not feature a smart-linked controllable choke, unlike some M45 variants.
Lawgiver is a special variant of the M45D Tactical Shotgun with increased stopping power, rate of fire, and accuracy compared to the standard smart-scope model.
Blaze of Glory is a special variant of the M45D Tactical Shotgun that has the Kinetic bolts attachment equipped in order to fire hard-light projectiles with more range and anti-materiél effect than the Lawgiver. Its entire magazine can also be reloaded with one shell.
Oathsworn is a series of custom-crafted M45D shotguns used by Kelly-087. A slightly upgraded version of the Lawgiver, the Oathsworn has increased damage, accuracy, and rate of fire compared to the normal shotgun, features slightly more range over the Lawgiver, and the increases the user's movement speed while the weapon is equipped. As the weapon has a built-in Speed Boost, users of Oathsworn receive white auras and highlights.
The M45E Tactical Shotgun is a UNSC shotgun that was the predecessor and contemporary of the M90 CAWS. It was designed as a variant of the M45 Tactical Shotgun. Its design heavily influenced that of the M90 variants, which were designed as more economical replacements.
