Summary
Ling Yao (リン・ヤオ, Rin Yao), also spelled as Lin Yao, is the twelfth crown prince of the eastern nation of Xing and the liege of the Yao clan. Seeking a way to ensure his path to the throne amidst deadly inter-house competition, Ling has ventured from Xing to Amestris in order to divine the secret of immortality from the Philosopher's Stone. He is eventually captured by the underlings of Father, who recognizes his spirit and decides to use his body to resurrect the rebellious Homunculus, Greed. Despite being initially adverse to one another, when Greed regains his memories and chooses to fight against Father, the two strike an odd friendship over their common thirst for power and riches.

Origin: Fullmetal Alchemist
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Classification: Human, Prince of Xing, Traveller | Human-based Homunculus, Sin of Greed, Ultimate Shield
Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Martial Arts, Acrobatics, limited Attack Reflection and Weapon Mastery (Ling is a very skilled swordsman, able to somewhat contend with King Bradley[1], even without a weapon when given Greed's powers, and seems to be trained in the same combat arts as his subordinates), Enhanced Senses, Telepathy and Extrasensory Perception (Can sense Chi and souls[2], read minds and see in the dark by reading the flow of Earth's energy[3]), Supernatural Willpower (Remained sane among the storm of souls in the Philosopher Stone, which would annihilate any normal man's individuality[4][5]), Explosion Manipulation (Carries the same explosives that his subordinates use[6]), Minor Corrosion Inducement (With Tear Gas bombs[3]), Smoke Manipulation and Light Manipulation (With various other bombs[3]) | All of Ling Yao and the original Greed's powers, Martial Arts (Even without Ling's help, Greed is a fairly skilled fighter, able to contend with Edward Elric and eventually put him in an armbar[7]. Could fight somewhat evenly with King Bradley[8]), Acrobatics (Shown here[4])
Attack Potency: Building level (Sliced Gluttony in half[9]. Somewhat comparable to Envy[10]), Building level+ with bombs (His explosives are this strong) | Building level (Stronger than before. Injured Wrath with a claw strike)
Speed: Supersonic (Comparable to and likely faster than Gluttony and Envy) | Supersonic (Has inherited Ling's speed and is now faster than the original Greed[4])
Lifting Strength: Class 10 (Should be roughly equal to Lan Fan as they have shown similar prowess and have received similar training. Somewhat comparable to Envy[10], managed to tie Gluttony up in steel cable) | Class 25 (Halted a truck. Bent the barrel of a gun[11])
Striking Strength: Building level | Building level
Durability: Building level | Building level. At least Town level with the Ultimate Shield (Unaffected by strikes from Pride's shadows[3], and tanked attacks from Father. Never damaged without being transmuted by Alchemy at any point in the series)
Stamina: Peak Human (Even while carrying Lan Fan and after suffering a blow from a stronger opponent[1], kept running away from Wrath and Gluttony[6]. Can fight even with some broken ribs[12].) | Superhuman (As better detailed on the Alchemy page, Homunculi draw their energy from the Philosopher Stone inside them, and will be able to constantly regenerate and fight until it is fully depleted)
Range: Extended Melee Range with swords, Tens of Meters by throwing explosives | Standard Melee Range
Standard Equipment: Swords, various ninja explosives | None notable
Intelligence: Above Average (Ling is a very skilled fighter, capable of somewhat keeping up with King Bradley, and a surprisingly devious political player despite his young age) | Above Average for both Ling and Greed
Weaknesses: None notable | Retains the weaknesses of the first Greed. When Ling is in control, he needs to explicitly ask Greed to use his powers.
Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- The Ultimate Shield: Greed has control over the arrangement of carbon atoms in his body, allowing him to make his skin as strong as the hardest diamonds and even graphene, allowing him to easily take blows from his enemies. As shown in his final "fight" with Father, he can potentially transform his skin into the most brittle charcoal, but this has no real applications.
