Flynn SMT

Summary

Flynn is the main protagonist of Shin Megami Tensei IV, being a lower-class citizen of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado raised since birth in the small village of Kiccigiorgi, who, alongside his friend Isacchar and all other residents of the country, went to participate in a sacred rite that would determine whether or not he would become a Samurai after completing 18 years of age. Having been accepted into these ranks, Flynn's peaceful days would soon come to an end, as his discovery of the existence of demons and the appearance of a mysterious figure known only as the "Black Samurai" sent him and his companions into a vast conspiracy dating back to the very foundation of Mikado.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 6-B | Low 1-C | 1-A | 1-A | 1-A

Key: Early-Game | Mid-Game | Late-Game | End-Game / Apocalypse | Messiahs in the Diamond Realm

Name: Flynn

Origin: Megami Tensei

Gender: Male

Age: 18

Classification: Samurai of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado, Messiah, Godslayer, Champion of Tokyo

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Martial Arts and Weapon Mastery (Can flawlessly wield a sword as a result of his samurai training, with his skill outmatching and impressing even mythological entities known for their abilities in combat and general warfare, such as Ares, and fully mastered the use of firearms immediately after being introduced to them), Accelerated Development, Reactive Evolution and Reactive Power Level (Flynn is capable of strengthening himself and drawing out large quantities of his inner power at an abnormal rate, with Sanat noting that he was actively evolving and growing stronger as the two of them did battle, and Lucifer stating that his spiritual powers increase substantially every time a powerful Demon is defeated by him), Supernatural Willpower, Extrasensory Perception (Can sense the presence of Demons within his vicinity, with his radar being honed enough to detect even entities beyond three-dimensional space such as Sanat, the Ancient of Days and Lucifer and Merkabah), Energy Manipulation, Non-Physical Interaction (Can damage and interact with spirits and ghosts, as well as strike down the informational forms of Demons and entities considered formless even in relation to those, such as The White), as well as Healing, Regeneration (High-Mid), Invulnerability and Durability Negation (As a Messiah and a magic user, Flynn's attacks likely function on both the physical and spiritual/mental/conceptual/informational levels, with wounds he inflicts being unable to be healed without spiritual power and capable of harming physically invulnerable foes, as well as killing regenerative entities, such as Nagas and Blobs), Immortality (Type 4) and Time Manipulation (Can return to the world of the living in the exact moment before his death by paying off Charon with macca or putting it on a tab), Social Influencing, Summoning, Observation (Type 2), Resistance Negation, Magic, Sealing (Sealed Krishna with Masakado)

Attack Reflection (Shields himself from both Light and Dark-based attacks with Tetraja, and accomplishes the same against physical and magical attacks with Tetrakarn and Makarakarn respectively), Death Manipulation (Of both dark and light-based varieties with Mudo and Hama respectively), Elemental Manipulation (Fire Manipulation, Ice Manipulation, Air Manipulation, Electricity Manipulation), Empathic Manipulation, Fear Manipulation (70% chance of inflicting the "panic" status effect with Madness Needle, and 90% of doing the same with Pulinpa), Paralysis Inducement, Poison Manipulation, Status Effect Inducement, Sleep Manipulation, Statistics Amplification and Reduction

Enhanced Death Manipulation (80% chance of inflicting instant death upon all targets with Judgement Light and Die For Me), Existence Erasure (Can use the Megido spell, which is said to exert control over the light of destruction that engulfs all in its range into the "annihilation beyond death," leaving no trace of the opponent behind)

Absorption, Damage Boost, Elemental Manipulation (Ice Manipulation, Air Manipulation and Electricity Manipulation), Healing (Fully restores the vitality of himself and his allies with Mediarahan), Power Modification (Turns one random resistance of a foe into a weakness with Godslayer's Sword)

Fusionism, Possession and Existence Erasure (Managed to retain his consciousness even after being merged into Krishna through sheer willpower, enough to actively interrupt the fused entity's actions and eventually overwhelm him entirely. Should be similar to Aleph), Conceptual Manipulation / Information Manipulation / Mind Manipulation / Soul Manipulation (Frequently does battle against Demons, who affect their targets on all of the above levels with every attack, often withstanding numerous strikes from them and emerging victorious through brute force alone), Fate Manipulation and Curse Manipulation (Able to fight and defeat White Rider, the abstract embodiment of victory and conquest whose crown assures his success in all battles and wars. Unbothered by interactions with Pisacas, which fate humans to die in the span of nine months), Disease Manipulation, Probability Manipulation, Madness Manipulation and Chaos Manipulation (Unaffected by the act of looking into Girimehkala's eye, which inflicts incurable sickness and misfortune into individuals, and by the gaze of Yakkha, which is said to inflict disease and madness), Petrification and Poison Manipulation (Can easily do battle against Basilisk and Cockatrice, both of whom turn normal people into stone simply by being touched or looked at, and have a gaze and breath so poisonous that any mortal being near them instantly dies, turning their surroundings into a desert), Life and Death Manipulation (Can fight Liches, whose presence drains the life of those who see them, and is not affected by Balor's gaze, which instantly kills enemies, and Chatterskull's laughter, which dooms whoever hears it to death, immediately stopping their heart)

Attack Potency: Country level (Superior to Elemental Spirits such as Aeros and Ethrys, who are the respective personifications of all of the world's winds and earth, being the cause of all phenomena related to their element as dictated by human understanding, and thus should both be capable of reproducing effects of this scale. Can easily defeat hordes of Lilim that are individually stronger than the aforementioned Elemental Spirits) | Low Complex Multiverse level (Can defeat Lilith and Seth, as well as easily face the likes of Tiamat and Ouroboros as nothing but random encounters, and later killed all four members of The White) | Outerverse level (Fought against and ultimately surpassed Sanat and The Ancient of Days, who are both more powerful than Metatron, with the latter in particular holding him as a component of its fusion recipe. Slayed the Demiurge in the Chaos Route, and can defeat Shiva and Beelzebub, the latter of whom considers his very existence to be "an extreme danger.") | Outerverse level (Fought against both Merkabah and Demon Lord Lucifer, driving the former to transform into a more powerful state out of utter desperation and easily matching the latter "at the fulcrum of the absolute," with both battles having ended with Flynn's victory and caused Walter to acknowledge that his strength surpassed Lucifer's own. Subdued an enraged Masakado, bringing the deity to his senses within the span of time it took for an ICBM to reach Tokyo while only attempting to calm him down and with no intention to kill. Gravely injured Krishna and destroyed his physical form using Masakado's Katana, with Flynn's own strength having been enough to allow the former to regain his original power as the Supreme Creator God Vishnu. Contributed to the battles against Satan and YHVH in both the Bonds and Anarchy Routes) | Outerverse level (Comparable to the other Messiahs, and was able to fight against an unrestrained Stephen alongside them, although the latter was more amused and satisfied by their performance than actually damaged in any significant way in the aftermath of the battle)

Speed: Speed of Light Reactions and Combat Speed (Should be comparable to Plasma, a notably weak demon who can attack using electromagnetic waves), higher with Sukukaja | Immeasurable Reactions and Combat Speed | Immeasurable Reactions and Combat Speed | Immeasurable Reactions and Combat Speed (Kept his pace against Lucifer, Merkabah and Masakado, and slashed Krishna faster than he could react) | Immeasurable Reactions and Combat Speed

Lifting Strength: Unknown

Striking Strength: Country level | Low Complex Multiverse level | Outerverse level | Outerverse level | Outerverse level

Durability: Country level | Low Complex Multiverse level | Outerverse level | Outerverse level | Outerverse level

Stamina: Superhuman (Capable of fighting against multiple hordes of highly powerful enemies in quick succession while making use of several abilities that drain both physical and mental stamina and controlling an entire team of demons fighting by his side, being no worse for the wear after such occasions)

Range: Extended Melee Range with his sword, up to several dozens of meters with firearms and magical attacks. Up to Planetary with his Demons | Same as before. Up to Low Complex Multiversal with demons | Same as before. Up to Outerversal with demons

Standard Equipment: A large assortment of weapons, armory and miscellaneous combat-oriented items

  • Gauntlet: A device given to all Samurai of the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado during a ceremonial rite enacted when they reach adulthood, functioning not only as a way for its user to summon, control and communicate with Demons, but also as an all-purpose piece of equipment that provides navigation assistance and a variety of different applications that can assist Flynn in combat, whether by reducing the MP cost of his abilities or directly Influencing the actions of enemy demons during negotiations, on top of being able to analyze both them and the surrounding terrain in order to assist in battle, with this capability extending even to higher-dimensional realms beyond normal reality, such as the Monochrome Forest and the Expanse, and formless, nonexistent entities, such as The White

Intelligence: Extraordinary Genius. Underwent intense combat training in order to become capable of fighting against Demons of all kinds, and even in his first days as a Samurai, he already had enough skill with the sword to defeat even deities whose existence is intimately tied to the concept of warfare, such as the Greek God Ares, and being able to handle a variety of different melee weapons equally well, from knives to chainsaws, spears, maces, hammers and scepters. Shown to be extremely adaptable and quick to learn as well, having become extremely proficient in the use of firearms in general immediately after being introduced to them in spite of spending the bulk of his life as a peasant living in a medieval country

Weaknesses: Observation is a phenomenon that happens entirely on the unconscious level and is intimately tied to Flynn's own beliefs, thoughts and subjective experiences, and thus its applications, although vast, are not something that are able to be freely utilized in battle

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

Demon Whisper: Unlike most of the series' human protagonists, Flynn has the inherent ability to wield magic, converting his own life-force into raw power in order to impose a series of effects upon the physical plane. Not only that, but he is also able to communicate with his Demons in order to receive skills and abilities from them in a process known as a Whisper Event, being able to potentially learn any skill in the game, save for a select few, through this method, and following this, any further Whisper Events will serve to strengthen the abilities received in various ways. For a list of all possible skills Flynn can inherit, see here.

Buffs and Debuffs: A set of skills that, as the name implies, allows the caster to greatly amplify their own physical attributes and reduce that of their foes, thus allowing one to stand up to much stronger opponents by closing or even reversing the gap in power between them. Outside of gameplay limitations, they can be stacked indefinitely, and sufficient usages of buffs allow the caster to survive attacks that would otherwise obliterate them with only minor injuries and amplify their speed to the point of completely outspeeding opponents that could previously predict all of their movements, while debuffs have a directly proportional effect on the enemy's statistics.

  • Tarukaja: Increases both his own attack power and that of allies by one rank.
  • Makakaja: Increases both his own magical power and that of allies by one rank.
  • Rakukaja: Increases both his own defensive abilities and that of allies by one rank.
  • Sukukaja: Increases both his own speed and that of allies by one rank.
  • Dekunda: Nullifies all negative statistic modifications inflicted upon herself and allies.
  • Luster Candy: Increases all statistics of an entire party (Strength, speed and durability) by one rank. Only available to Flynn in his mid-game key and onwards.
  • Debilitate: Decreases all statistics of an entire party (Strength, speed and durability) by one rank. Only available to Flynn in his mid-game key and onwards.

Almighty Attacks: The highest class of spells in the Megami Tensei franchise, consisting largely of powerful non-elemental attacks that have the special property of completely bypassing any resistances or immunities that a target may possess, be them innate or magically enforced, with the latter of which including anything from reflective barriers to items that distort the very laws of the universe in order to protect the user from all forms of damage, and they are likewise unable to blocked, drained or generally defended against.

  • Megidolaon: Unleashes a wave of destructive energy which deals heavy damage to all foes, tapping into the pale light of divinity that reigns over destruction itself and engulfing them in "the complete annihilation beyond death." Only available to Flynn in his mid-game key and onwards.
  • Antichthon: Deals heavy almighty damage to all foes while simultaneously reducing all of their statistics by one rank. Learned from Shiva and Demiurge, and thus only available to Flynn in his late-game key and onwards.
  • Godslayer's Sword: Deals massive almighty attack while simultaneously turning one random resistance into a weakness, being especially effective against godly entities such as YHVH. Only avaliable to Flynn in his Apocalypse keys.
