Wriggle Nightbug Render

Summary

Wriggle Nightbug is a firefly with the ability to control other insects. She likes using her ability to direct concerted performances for her own amusement, as well as to attack humans who underestimate her significance or the importance of insects in general.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 8-B

Name: Wriggle Nightbug

Origin: Touhou Project

Gender: Female

Age: Unknown

Classification: Firefly Youkai

Powers and Abilities:

Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Flight, Danmaku, Spirit Manipulation, Limited Creation & Conceptual Manipulation (Type 1; The process of creating a spell card requires giving it a 'name' to define its form and power, not unlike how the gods gave 'names' to everything at the beginning of reality to give them form from nothingness, albeit on a much smaller scale[1][2][3]), Power Modification (Spell card users are capable of changing the traits of any attack or ability by naming it, being able to turn ordinarily lethal attacks into nonlethal ones, or severely restricting the potency of an ability by 'gameifying' it[4][5]), Space-Time Manipulation (All spell card users are shown to possess magic circles, which have the properties of slowing anything within their radius down to a near stop. Via the ability to name their spell cards, spell card users are able to distinguish things within space and time[6]), Magic, Extrasensory Perception (Magic users are sensitive to changes in temperament[7]), Acausality (Types 1 & 4; Unaffected by Keine erasing the human village from history[8], despite the fact that youkai rely on the continued existence of the human village in order to sustain their own existence[9]. Exists within the Hakurei Barrier[10], which created a world with a different flow of time[11] and different physical laws[12]. Should be comparable to those who can act normally inside Eientei, which exists outside of time and causality[13][14]), Acrobatics, Animal Manipulation, Non-Physical Interaction (Can harm Phantoms and Evil Spirits with her regular attacks), Longevity (Youkai lifespans are longer than that of humans[15], and half youkai such as Rinnosuke seemingly do not age at all[16]), Enhanced Senses (Youkai can see better than humans in the dark of night[17]), Shapeshifting (Upon entering Gensokyo, youkai gained the ability to change their form as they please[18][19], often choosing to take forms more closely resembling that of humans[20][21]), Intangibility (Youkai can break themselves down into[22][23], or regenerate from[24][25][26][27], a sort of black mist. They are also repeatedly shown to form from this mist out of thin air), Incorporeality (Youkai are stated to be unbound from the confines of the material world[28], and are made of Spirit[29]), Regeneration (Mid-Godly; Youkai are able to recover from bodily destruction, despite being made of Spirit[30][31]. They can also quickly recover from their Spirit being drained or destroyed), Aura, Sense Manipulation, Fear Manipulation (All youkai possess 'youkai energy' that takes the form of an aura[32]. This aura can make one feel pins and needles throughout their body[33], can make one start to tremble[34], and is powerful enough to deliver these effects even while sealed away[35]. Successfully inducing fear in a target also allows a youkai to absorb their Spirit[36]), Aura Suppression (Youkai commonly infiltrate the human village without their auras affecting nearby people[37], and are[38] shown[39][40][41] to be able to[42] mask their auras from[43][44] Kosuzu, who can naturally detect such auras[45]), Perception Manipulation (Youkai perceive time much more slowly than humans do[46]), Empowerment, Resistance Modification (Youkai are empowered by human's belief in the rituals that can be used to combat or exorcise them, using them as a basis to solidify their existence and influence[47]. However, youkai are not bound by this, and can simply choose to be unaffected by such weaknesses on a whim, at the cost of the aforementioned empowerment[48][49]. Youkai are even further empowered by the light of a full moon[50]), possibly Soul Manipulation, Mind Manipulation, and Empathic Manipulation (It's been stated that most youkai can control the world through the mental layer of reality[51], which moves alongside the spirit and determines the emotions of all living beings. However, it is impossible to know specifically which youkai this applies to)

Resistance to Madness Manipulation (Youkai can resist the effects of the true Moon, which can drive humans insane and kill them if they look at it), Illusion Creation (According to ZUN, youkai are able to see illusions.[52] During the events of Imperishable Night, all youkai noticed the moon was illusory[53]), Biological Manipulation (Youkai lack DNA[54] and brains[55]), Matter Manipulation (Youkai are described as a fluctuation and seem to be composed of different particles[56] ), Disease Manipulation (As youkai are beings comprised mostly of spirit, they are unaffected by physical illnesses[57]), Subjective Reality, Transmutation, Transformation (Youkai were once bound to the imagination of humans, with the myths and stories about them defining their forms and characteristics. However, after moving to Gensokyo, youkai were unbound from this system, and became capable of changing on their own[58]), Power Bestowal, Corruption (Youkai are unaffected by the Hourai elixir, which grants immortality and taints the drinker with impurity[59][60][61]), Fear Manipulation, Sense Manipulation (Youkai are unaffected by the passive auras of other youkai), Extreme Heat (Youkai are not affected by heatstroke[62]), Space-Time Manipulation (Unaffected by the magic circles used by other spell card users, which cause things near them to passively slow down to a near stop), Mind Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation (Unaffected by being near phantoms, which can passively change the emotions or slowly destroy the minds of anybody they come near[63]), Death Manipulation (Can survive being near Yuyuko, whose mere touch can cause death and who passively causes all living things near her to die[64][65]), and Soul Absorption (Survived Tenshi absorbing the souls of all living things across Gensokyo and various Otherworlds such as the Netherworld), Unconventional Resistance to Necromancy (Youkai do not leave corpses behind when beaten[66])

Attack Potency: City Block level+ (Should be at least comparable to Cirno)

Speed: At least FTL (Comparable to Cirno), possibly Infinite (Should not be too far behind high tiers and Moon rabbits like Rei'sen)

Lifting Strength: Class 5 (At least comparable to that of Cirno's)

Striking Strength: City Block level+

Durability: City Block level+

Stamina: High

Range: At least Tens of Meters with Danmaku (Her firing range should be comparable to Sakuya's, who can throw knives at least 36 meters)

Standard Equipment: None notable

Intelligence: Wriggle is childish and naive. She has a poor memory, at least when it comes to unimportant information.

Weaknesses: Wriggle is basically harmless without her insects. Her insects have all the conventional weaknesses of normal insects, such as fire, cold, fungus, and fumigation. Wriggle herself is vulnerable to spiritual attacks.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:

- Ability to control insects: Wriggle possesses the ability to freely manipulate and direct insects of many varieties. The type of insect doesn't matter; she can manipulate fireflies, moths, caterpillars, crickets, hornets, and even spiders and mites, which aren't insects. Though this power seems weak, Wriggle can call upon entire swarms of stinging insects like hornets, or swarms of tiny harvest mites, so small that they can't be seen with the naked eye, but capable of biting without being detected and transmitting fatal diseases.

Because this power leads to her usually being surrounded by swarms of bugs, most humans dislike confronting her. However, Wriggle herself is almost harmless, and confronting her while she is alone (during Winter, for example) can lead to an easy victory. In addition, her insects still possess conventional weaknesses, such as fire, cold, fungus, and fumigation, so these things are very effective against her.
