“ | Do you know why the Hunters are drawn to this Nightmare? Because it sprouted from their very misdeeds. Things that some would rather keep secret. A pitiful take of petty arrogance, really. High time someone exposed the whole charade. Now, now, go on ahead. You seek nightmares, and the secrets within, do you not? | „ |
~ Simon |
Summary
Simon was an early church hunter. During his time as a hunter his work revolved around hiding his identity and slipping into the nooks and crannies of Yharnam looking for early signs of the scourge. However Simon later developed a certain interest in uncovering the secrets of the Healing Church.
Simon despised firearms and so the Church workshop had a special weapon called a Bowblade specially fashioned to his liking. Unfortunately Simon’s choice to wield the bow against the scourge beasts caused those peers who were not his close friends to scoff at him because they believed that the bow would be ineffective against the might of the beasts.
At some point in his life Simon appears to have uncovered the truth or a partial truth about the Healing Church and the origin of the hunter’s curse. Seemingly to put an end to the plight of the hunters, and likely save himself, Simon entered the Hunter’s Nightmare and sought the Fishing Hamlet where it all began. But before he could complete his work Simon was hunted down by Brador, the Church Assassin who protects the church’s secrets. The beast-hide assassin eventually overcame Simon, and he died within walking distance of the corpse of Kos, the source that feeds the nightmare.

Notable Attacks/Techniques:
- Rally: A core mechanic of a hunter's fighting style, the ability to heal for part or all of the damage taken from a recent attack by retaliating with their own attacks. This allows a hunter to use an offense-centric, high risk/high reward style of combat, giving them the ability to sustain themselves by constantly attacking and counterattacking the enemy. However, this ability requires the opponent to be biological in some manner, as it is done in part by 'bathing in the opponent's blood' and does not work on inanimate targets or spirits[4].
- Visceral Attack: A unique and brutal technique in a hunter's fighting style, using a firearm or projectile Hunter Tool such as the Blackskye Eye or Augur of Ebrietas to parry an incoming attack, The Hunter briefly staggers the opponent, leaving them open for The Hunter to drive their hand into the opponent's torso or skull and tear out large chunks of their organs, dealing a large amount of damage. This can also be used on an unsuspecting enemy, hitting them with a fully charged heavy melee attack to stagger them in the same way[6].
- Blood Bullets: A technique used by hunters as a means of conserving or creating ammunition for firearms in place of Quicksilver Bullets. Using their own blood as a substitute, a hunter is able to create a seemingly limitless number of Blood Bullets so long as their vitality holds out[2].
