“ | The Affair that shambleth about in the night, the Evil that defieth the Elder Sign, the Herd that stand watch at the secret portal each tomb is known to have, and that thrive on that which groweth out of the tenants within—all these Blacknesses are lesser than HE Who guardeth the Gateway; HE Who will guide the rash one beyond all the worlds into the Abyss of unnamable Devourers. For HE is ’UMR AT-TAWIL', the Most Ancient One, which the scribe rendereth as THE PROLONGED OF LIFE.” | „ |

“ | "It was an All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self--not merely a thing of one Space-Time continuum, but allied to the ultimate animating essence of existence's whole unbounded sweep--the last, utter sweep which has no confines and which outreaches fancy and mathematics alike. It was perhaps that which certain secret cults of earth have whispered of as YOG-SOTHOTH, and which has been a deity under other names; that which the crustaceans of Yuggoth worship as the Beyond-One, and which the vaporous brains of the spiral nebulae know by an untranslatable Sign--yet in a flash the Carter-facet realized how slight and fractional all these conceptions are. | „ |

Summary
Yog-Sothoth is one of the all-powerful Ultimate Gods that reside in the formless chaos past the confines of dimensioned space, and the most important and prominent of them all, being directly associated with the entity known as "The Supreme Archetype," who reigns chief among the inhabitants of the Ultimate Abyss and is coterminous with all of existence as an unbounded oneness of pure being, holding a particularly close connection to great thinkers and seekers of cosmic knowledge, among which is Randolph Carter, who eventually has a direct encounter with the supreme entity, aiming to penetrate the illusory Veil of existence and attain knowledge of the "Ultimate Mystery" that lies behind all things.
Unlike the other entities of its level, who are so far beyond human comprehension as to appear mindless and devoid of personality entirely, the Supreme Archetype displays a quasi-benevolent attitude towards lesser entities, being willing to have an audience with whoever it deems worthy of its attention, and giving them the choice of either partaking in its own, boundless knowledge regarding all things, or leaving the outer spheres with their own ignorance unscathed.

Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 2), Madness Manipulation (Type 2 and 3), Matter Manipulation, Conceptual Manipulation (Type 1), Immortality (Type 1, 5 and 9), Large Size (Type 11), and Acausality (Type 4. The Ancient Ones reside past the First Gate, in an undimensioned region that exists beyond the infinite-dimensional spacetime of the physical world, as well as the recursions of nested universes existing past it[1]), Telepathy, Dream Manipulation, Dimensional Manipulation, and Dimensional Travel (able to summon the Gate through a ritual by joining their dreams and allowing explorers to pass through its threshold using the Silver Key[2]), likely Body Control (Described as somewhat amorphous beings with ill-defined shapes[3]), Omniscience (Described as knowing all things[4]), Sound Manipulation (Capable of creating chants beyond earth rhythm and hard for the human imagination to interpret[4]), likely many more.
All previous abilities on an unfathomably higher scale, as well as, Omnipresence (Described to be one with and encompassing everything that exists[5][6]), Acausality (Type 5. The nature of the Ultimate Void is different from any conceivable cosmos and is a changeless totality[7]), Nonexistent Physiology (Type 2) and Abstract Existence (Type 1. Should be comparable to its brethren, of which Hypnos merely viewing the visage of the Ultimate Gods drew him to complete insanity and horror[11])
Attack Potency: At least Outerverse level (The Ancient Ones reside in the Outer Extension, a trans-dimensional region that exists beyond a multiverse containing an infinity of infinite-dimensional infinite spacetime atoms, perceiving the macrocosm and its contents as infinitesimal illusions with no substance; they are unfathomably greater in power than all the other entities and horrors that lurk in such undimensioned darkness[1][4]), Outerverse level+ with Rituals (The Ancient Ones guard the Ultimate Gate leading to the Ultimate Void inhabited by the Ultimate Gods and can summon the Gate through a ritual by joining their dreams and allowing explorers to open it using the Silver Key[2]) | Boundless (Yog-Sothoth exists in the Ultimate Void as the chief of the formless and ineffable "archetypes" known as the Ultimate Gods, changeless entities of which all things are derivative facets. Yog-Sothoth embodies the infinite circle in its godly paradigm with Azathoth, existing as the macrocosm half of the Supreme Archetype, an all-encompassing oneness/"All-in-One and One-in-All of limitless being and self" of animating essence that subsumes even the Ultimate Mystery that underlies all manifested phenomena and eclipses even the Ultimate Void and its transcendent inhabitants the same way they transcend the rest of existence)
