Plot

A popular social game known as the Magical Girl Raising Project has the ability to grant players a 1-in-10000 chance of becoming a real-life magical girl. Each of the magical girls possess unique abilities and earn Magical Candies by protecting people and performing good deeds. However, at some point, the administration has decided that sixteen magical girls in a certain city is too many, announcing they will cut their numbers in half by having the magical girl with the fewest Magical Candies each week lose their powers. As the rules of the game become more twisted, the girls eventually find themselves dragged into a life-or-death battle against each other.

Following Cranberry’s death, her plans are brought to light to the Magical Kingdom and the mobile game Magical Girl Raising Project is shut down. Six months later, Keek, an experienced magical girl who holds an important position in the Magical Kingdom, as the leader of the entire IT team, aware of Cranberry’s “exams” being nothing more than bloody battle royales where the last standing wins, is upset and furious at how the Magical Kingdom has done nothing about the magical girls who passed her exams. In her eyes, these girls are undeserving of the title, having obtained it through combat, violence, blood, and betrayal, characteristics that go against the very idea and principle of a magical girl. Thus, without the Magical Kingdom's authorization or knowledge, and thanks to her power, she relaunched Magical Girl Raising Project in the form of a virtual reality game, dragging inside her Cyber World the 16 magical girls that had previously passed Cranberry's deadly exams.

One day at the Nanamiya middle school of B-City, a small fairy named Toko manages to gather 6 people together using fake pretenses to bring them to the same room, and turns them into magical girls. She's begging for help: evil magical girls are after her life because she discovered their plan to destroy the world. In order to face and defeat them, Toko asks the newly-transformed magical girls to help her, who agree.

7753 originally sent to B-City for a mission, receives an emergency call from her superior instructing her that a vicious criminal likely working under one of the Kingdom’s departments is on the run in B-City. All the Kingdom is in disarray and the various departments blame each other for which one the criminal belongs to. 7753 joins Mana, Hana Gekokujou, Archfiend Pam, and Ripple in order to arrest them.

Finally, the Antiestablishment factions, groups who view the Kingdom as corrupted and want to overthrow it or completely reform it, send Tot Pop and her subordinates to free Pythie Frederica. The criminal magical girl of the Kingdom is on the run and they want Tot Pop’s group to capture her and use her to destroy the Kingdom's reputation. Pythie then frees Pukin and Sonia Bean, two ancient MGs considered among the strongest to have ever lived. They then infiltrate B-City, where they know the magical girl is hiding.

Power of the Verse

The verse has a wide range of abilities, whether they are offensive, defensive or supportive, including some hax, like Durability Negation, Mind Manipulation, Empathic Manipulation, Invulnerability, and Deconstruction. The characters also share a variety of abilities due to their Magical Girl Physiology. There exists a significant gap between non-combat magical girls, combat-oriented ones, and top-tier ones. The weakest magical girls can survive mines, casually toss humans and dent steel doors, and scale to base-level Disruptors, which can mow down thick trees, putting them at Small Building level. Meanwhile, combat-oriented MGs stand at around Multi-City Block level (382.4 tons). The top-tier characters, like Cranberry, Archfiend Pam and Pukin, reach Town level+, comparable to the average modern nuke. Their movement speed varies from Subsonic+ to Supersonic+, and their reaction speed from Supersonic+ to Hypersonic+. Some rare special cases, like Nemurin and Keek ignore most of these conventions and reach far higher levels when in specific scenarios. Each magical girl only has a single power, but which can often be used in various ways. Each power has limitations and most of them have weaknesses, baring a few exceptions.
