Yamamoto 1000 Years Ago

Summary

Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto (やまもと げんりゅうさい しげくに Yamamoto Genryūsai Shigekuni?) was the captain of the Gotei 13's 1st Division and the most powerful Shinigami within Soul Society. Venerated for his power, skill, and wisdom, his word was the ultimate letter of the law in Soul Society.

Powers and Stats

Tier: 5-C, higher with Ennetsu Jigoku, 5-C with South: Kaka Jūmanokushi Daisojin, Low 5-B with East: Kyokujitsujin, higher with North: Tenchi Kaijin

Name: Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto

Origin: Bleach

Gender: Male

Age: Over 2100 years

Classification: Shinigami, Captain of the 1st Division, Captain-Commander of the whole Gotei 13

Powers and Abilities:

Attack Potency: Moon level (Yamamoto has among the highest combined Attack and Spiritual Pressure stats of all the Captains and not even multiple stronger can match the transcendent power of his strongest fire-type Zanpakutō[22][23][24][25][26]. Yamamoto eviscerates the Tres Bestias and Ayon[27][28][29], Aizen concedes inferiority to the power of Yamamoto's Ryuujin Jakka, even developing an entire Arrancar solely to counter it[30], Yamamoto tears apart Resurreccion Wonderweiss[31][32], he injures Aizen despite being gravely injured[33], and he states that he has remained unsurpassed by Shinigami for 1000 years[34], which the databooks confirm to be true, as Yamamoto is the best in all Shinigami combat arts[35]. Yamamoto surpasses the power of all the Captains[36], including the likes of Unohana, easily vaporizes Driscoll[37], he blasts away Bazz-B, NaNaNa, and As Nodt[38], and he nicks Royd[39][Statistics Values 1]), higher with Ennetsu Jigoku (Capable of severely wounding himself[40]), Moon level with South: Kaka Jūmanokushi Daisōjin (The skeletons Yamamoto summons with his Bankai can contest Royd[41][Statistics Values 2]), Small Planet level with East: Kyokujitsujin (His Bankai can passively destroy the entire Soul Society over time, Yamamoto's Bankai seals all the flames into the blade, explosively increasing his power[42], his Spiritual Pressure is so immense it takes the form of actual flames[43], his passive aura would have disintegrated Royd[44], and he cuts through Royd's arrow[45]. Yhwach believes he's the only person in the invading Quincy army that can handle the power of Yamamoto's Bankai[46], implying that Yamamoto's Bankai is stronger than all the other Stern Ritter, which would include Gremmy[Statistics Values 3]), higher with North: Tenchi Kaijin (Yamamoto kills Royd[47])

Speed: Sub-Relativistic (Defend against Bazz-B, As Nodt and NaNaNa simultaneously, Aizen was wary of fighting him)

Lifting Strength: At least Class G (Restrained Aizen twice)

Striking Strength: Moon level (Comparable to his Attack Potency, as he is stronger than all Shinigami at the time physically, including the likes of Aizen), Small Planet level with Zanka no Tachi (While using his Bankai, Yamamoto slashed through Royd's arrow with a sword swing)

Durability: Moon level (Comparable to his Attack Potency, as he was able to contain the majority of his own Ennetsu Jigoku[Statistics Values 4]), Small Planet level with West: Zanjitsu Gokui (Yamamoto can coat himself in the same flames of East: Kyokujitsujin[48], which vaporized Royd's sword[49][Statistics Values 5])

Stamina: Superhuman. Can continue fighting even after sustaining injuries such as multiple stab wounds in the torso. He was conscious even after taking a blast of his own Shikai's flames and even after being bisected by Yhwach.

Range: Hundreds of Meters to Kilometers with Shikai and Kidō spells (Can unleash blasts of flame and Kidō spells which stretch across multiple city blocks), Tens of Kilometers to Hundreds of Kilometers with preparation time and Bankai (The heat from Zanka no Tachi's release affected all of Soul Society)

Standard Equipment: His Zanpakutō, Ryūjin Jakka

Intelligence: Yamamoto has over two millennia of experience as a teacher, warrior, and commander of the entire Gotei 13. Capable of quickly adjusting to new developments and making quick decisions accordingly. He could predict Aizen attacking before the expected time and thought to use a fake Karakura town to allow his forces to fight at full strength. In combat, he is a master of every Shinigami combat style, preferring his Zanjutsu and his Zanpaktō as well as Hakuda when disarmed.

Weaknesses: He has lost his left arm, and his physical strength has diminished with age (although he is still formidable in hand-to-hand combat and swordsmanship). He is somewhat arrogant and prefers to avoid stepping onto the battlefield unless he has to (which led many of the Lieutenant-class Shinigami to sustain severe injuries in combat when he could have easily wiped out most of Aizen's army). He is also stubborn about his opinions and will not heed advice that goes against them unless he sees it with his own eyes (such as Mayuri's warning about the Wandenreich).

Notable Attacks and Techniques:

Flash Step (しゅん Shunpo?): A Shinigami movement technique that allows the user to move faster than the eye can follow. As speed is the main factor, it is best characterized by how fast one can get from point A to point B in the least amount of steps.

  • Hakuda (はく?): The Shinigami art of hand-to-hand combat. Yamamoto is a master of Hakuda who can easily fight foes several times his size and stop most of the punches from a multi-armed opponent explicitly designed to counter his abilities.
    • Ikkotsu (いっこつ?): A single punch powerful enough to easily destroy most of Wonderweiss' abdomen while sending him flying through several buildings.
    • Sōkotsu (そうこつ?): A powerful two-fisted punch strong enough to wreck Wonderweiss' body.
  • Zanjutsu (ざんじゅつ?):
    • Hitotsume: Nadegiri (ひとなでぎり?): A mixture of Zanjutsu and Yamamoto's Shikai, Nadegiri is a concentrated slash of Ryūjin Jakka's flames to cleanly cut the enemy with fire.
    • Onibi (おに?): Yamamoto performs a powerful thrust with a blunt weapon, creating a large, gaping, cylindrical hole in a target.

Shikai (かい?): The initial release of a Shinigami's Zanpakutō. It is activated by a command while declaring the name of the Zanpakutō Spirit. It changes the shape of the Zanpakutō and/or grants special abilities.

  • Ryūjin Jakka (りゅうじんじゃっ?): Yamamoto's Zanpakutō and the oldest and one of the most powerful Zanpakutō in Soul Society. Normally taking the form of a simple wooden cane, its outer peels away to reveal an ornate katana when it's time for combat. Upon being activated with the command "All Things in the Universe, Turn to Ashes" (ばんしょういっさいかいじん Banshō issai kaijin to nase?), a massive wave of fire and spiritual pressure is released from the blade that can be felt from miles away by the spiritually attuned. A single swing of this blade can emit waves of fire that can instantly reduce the surroundings to ash and reach as far as the clouds. Even a captain of the Gotei 13 would be hard-pressed to be able to resist an indirect attack from these flames. Unlike other Zanpakutō, Ryūjin Jakka's effects do not dissipate if it is somehow resealed, allowing the fire to rage on until they run out of fuel.
    • Will-o'-the-Wisp: A technique to emanate heat towards a subject in a concentrated area to burn a hole into the target. It can be used despite not being in Shikai.
    • Jōkaku Enjō (じょうかくえんじょう?): Yamamoto creates a massive wall of flame that surrounds the target and imprisons them. This technique is potent enough to immobilize Aizen, Gin, and Tōsen for a significant amount of time.
    • Taimatsu (たいまつ?): Yamamoto torches his surroundings with a single swing of his blade, burning them until nothing remains but ashes. He can manipulate these flames with enough precision to only strike those he chooses and increase or decrease their intensity at leisure.
    • Ennetsu Jigoku (えんねつごく?): A time-consuming ability that involves creating massive pillars of fire that close in on the target and engulf them in flames. Though Yamamoto can use this technique to cover a much wider area than Karakura Town, he is just as vulnerable to the fire as his enemies are.
  • Bankai (ばんかい?): The ultimate and final release to a Zanpakutō. The difference in power between Shikai and Bankai is generally around 5-10 times more powerful. Even though Bankai is the final stage of a Zanpakutō, it does not mean the Shinigami's growth ends there. A Bankai, especially one that has been recently obtained, can evolve even further as its Shinigami also strengthens.
    • Zanka no Tachi (ざん Zanka no Tachi?): Yamamoto's Bankai compresses all of Ryūjin Jakka's flames into the blade itself, radically changing its properties.
    • Zanka no Tachi, East: Kyokujitsujin (ざん "ひがし" "きょくじつじん" Zanka no Tachi, Higashi・Kyokujitsujin?): Upon release, Zanka no Tachi's flames are concentrated along the blade, instantly eradicating anything it touches from existence.
    • Zanka no Tachi, West: Zanjitsu Gokui (ざん "西にし" "ざんじつごく" Zanka no Tachi, Nishi・Zanjitsu Gokui?): Yamamoto is surrounded by the raging flames, which can reach over 15,000,000° Celsius and instantly vaporize any attacks directed at him. Unless Yamamoto consciously chooses to reveal it, this heat is undetectable. The flame armor makes it difficult to approach him, giving the impression that he is unbeatable. The sheer amount of heat produced by this technique quickly saps his surroundings of moisture as a side effect, rendering water and ice-based abilities as powerful as Tōshirō Hitsugaya's Daiguren Hyorinmaru useless.
    • Zanka no Tachi, South: Kaka Jūmanokushi Daisōjin (ざん "みなみ" "じゅうまんおくだいそうじん" Zanka no Tachi, Minami・Kaka Juman'okushi Daisōjin?): By stabbing Zanka no Tachi into the ground, Yamamoto summons the corpses and ashes of those slain by its flames to fight on his behalf. They rise from a rupture in the environment and are powerful enough to decimate Kirchenlied: Sankt Zwinger, and they will continue to attack his opponent for as long as he wants them to. He can select which corpses he chooses to attack his foe to unnerve them and throw them off by showing them the remains of a loved one or a friend.
    • Zanka no Tachi, North: Tenchi Kaijin (ざん "きた" "てんかいじん" Zanka no Tachi, Kita・Tenchi Kaijin?): A single slash from Zanka no Tachi that instantly eradicates anything it touches from existence. It can be used from a distance as well.
  • Kidō (どう?): Spells cast by Shinigami with strong enough Reiryoku and Reiryoku control. Kidō is divided into mainly three categories: Hadō for attacks, Bakudō for battle support, and Kaidō for healing. The spells rank from 1 to 99, with 1 being the weaker and easier ones to cast and 99 being the most powerful and challenging to release. Skilled users can cast Kidō without the need of an incantation; however, doing so will reduce the Kidō's effectiveness to less than a third of its full potential.
    • Inemuri (ねむり?): Yamamoto holds his hand in front of his opponent's face, putting a spell on them that instantly makes them fall unconscious.
    • Hado #1: Shō (どういちしょう Hadō no Ichi・Shō?): Yamamoyo points at his target with his index finger, a small amount of energy is dispelled from the tip of the index finger with enough force to thrust a considerable amount of kinetic force at a target, which is pushed back a few feet from the practitioner.
    • Hado #4: Byakurai (どうびゃくらい Hadō no Shi・Byakurai?): Yamamoto gathers high-density spiritual energy, which they discharge from both hands. Alternatively, Yamamoto points at the intended target with their index finger and generates a concentrated bolt of lightning to use against the target.
    • Hado #11: Tsuzuri Raiden (どうじゅういちつづりらいでん Hadō no Jūichi・Tsuzuri Raiden?): An electric current is run through any object Yamamoto touches, which damages anything or anyone which is in contact with the object the current runs through.
    • Hado #12: Fushibi (どうじゅうふし Hadō no Jūni・Fushibi?): A Kidō net which can be accompanied with Red Flame Cannon, which has entangled his opponents, resulting in a large explosion around all of them.
    • Hado #31: Shakkahō (どうさんじゅういちしゃっほう Hadō no Sanjūichi・Shakkahō?): Generating high-temperature flames, Yamamoto discharges it from one or both hands. The practitioner generates and fires an orb of crimson red energy on his palm or finger. The orb can be small, medium, or large, depending on the level of power being used. The destructive power released by the blast can vary between a simple explosion to a pillar of energy, and in both instances, the spell causes concussive as well as burn damage.
    • Hado #32: Ōkasen (どうさんじゅうおうせん Hadō no Sanjūni・Ōkasen?): Raising their Zanpakutō horizontally in front of them, Yamamoto generates a yellow orb, which widens itself along the length of his sword. Once it is fully charged, it fires a wide, horizontal arc of yellow energy at the target. One's hand can be used as a catalyst for the spell instead of a Zanpakutō, but it produces a shorter arc.
    • Hado #33: Sōkatsui (どうさんじゅうさんそうつい Hadō no Sanjūsan・Sōkatsui?): Blue flames are discharged from the palm of his hand at his target and generates a torrent of blue energy before firing it. The energy moves like a direct blast or a large wave of energy, dependent on the amount of power which is placed into it.
    • Hadō #73: Sōren Sōkatsui (どうななじゅうさんそうれんそうつい Hadō no Nanajūsan・Sōren Sōkatsui?): An advanced form of Hadō #33: Pale Fire Crash, it has twice the effectiveness. Generating blue energy with his index and middle fingers, Yamamoto makes a pushing motion with both of his palms to push the gathered energy toward the target in a concentrated blast. It is essentially a doubled version of Pale Fire Crash because the user fires two bursts of blue energy with much greater potency than the single shot variety.
    • Hadō #54: Haien (どうじゅうはいえん Hadō no Gojūshi・Haien?): Yamamoto fires an oblong blast of purple energy from their hand which completely incinerates a target upon contact.
    • Hadō #57: Daichi Ten'yō (どうじゅうななだいてんよう Hadō no Gojūnana・Daichi Ten'yō?): Yamamoto thrusts his hands outward, causing objects around him to levitate and throwing them toward the destination which he chooses. The technique is precise enough to counter opposing flying objects.
    • Hadō #58: Tenran (どうじゅうはちてんらん Hadō no Gojūhachi・Tenran?): Levitating his sheathed Zanpakutō in front of him, Yamamoto lightly hits one of its ends, causing it to spin like a fan. Stopping it, Yamamoto creates a widening tornado-like blast, which is fired toward the target. A hand can be used as a catalyst for the spell if his Zanpakutō is not available.
    • Hado #63: Raikōhō (どうろくじゅうさんらいこうほう Hadō no Rokujūsan・Raikōhō?): Lightning Reiryoku is gathered into Yamamoto's arm and released towards the target like a shock-wave.
    • Hado #78: Zangerin (どうななじゅうはちざんりん Hadō no Nanajūhachi・Zangerin?): Yamamoto generates a large amount of energy from his Zanpakutō before blasting it outward in an arc-like slash.
    • Hado #88: Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō (どうはちじゅうはちりゅうげきぞくしんてんらいほう Hadō no Hachijūhachi・Hiryū Gekizoku Shinten Raihō?): A high-level Hadō which only Kidō masters can use. Yamamoto raises his arm forward and outstretched, occasionally using their free hand to grip the firing arm for extra support, with the palm facing flat toward the target, and fires a gigantic beam of electrical and spiritual energy, which creates an enormous explosion upon impact.
    • Hado #90: Kurohitsugi (どうきゅうじゅうくろひつぎ Hadō no Kyūjū・Kurohitsugi?): The target is sealed inside a large black coffin and are seemingly cut while inside. A large torrent of gravity is located inside that distorts space and time while restricting any chance for escape.
    • Hadō #91: Senju Kōten Taihō (どうきゅうじゅういちせんじゅこうてんたいほう Hadō no Kyūjūichi・Senju Kōten Taihō?): Generating ten pink energy points around himself, Yamamoto fires them all at his target, resulting in an exceedingly devastating explosion.
    • Hadō #96: Ittō Kasō (どうきゅうじゅうろくいっとうそう Hado no Kyujuroku: Ittō Kasō?): A powerful rolled-up flame is generated from a catalyst of the caster's own body. It is Gisei Hadō, a prohibited Hadō as it requires sacrifice in terms of the caster's body. Yamamoto sacrificed one of his arms to partially damage Aizen and distract him.
    • Hadō #99: Goryūtenmetsu (どうきゅうじゅうきゅうりゅうてんめつ Hadō no Kyūjūkyū・Goryūtenmetsu?): Five large pillars of light are generated around the caster composed of Reiatsu that resemble large dragons. A forbidden Kidō as it not only destroys the surroundings, it absorbs nearby Reiatsu to enhance itself.
