Death Metal render
So naive... You have no idea, do you? What a pity... You make an old man cry. Arrogant, crude little shits like you come around from time to time. Listen well, young one. The wall is high. Higher than you will ever know. Ultimate sacrifice is sublime... Now draw!
~ Death Metal to Travis

Summary

Death Metal is the 10th ranked assassin and the first boss Travis Touchdown faces off against in the original "No More Heroes". A 55-year-old English assassin who lives outside of Santa Destroy; he spends his days in luxury. Though Travis believes that life to be Paradise, the older and more cynical Death Metal, on the other hand, sees his mansion and his lavish surroundings as a "place to die", though he seems content with his life, believing his ability to be content with his place to be his true wealth.

He tries to convince Travis not to fight him, not wanting to spill blood uselessly, but doesn't hesitate to draw his sword when it becomes clear he won't change his mind. When Travis kills him, Death Metal bestows upon him the title of Holy Sword, holding no grudge towards him.

Powers and Stats

Tier: Likely 8-C, possibly 8-B

Name: Death Metal, real name Count Townsend, also called "Holy Sword"

Origin: No More Heroes

Gender: Male

Age: 55

Classification: #10 Ranked Assassin

Powers and Abilities: Superhuman Physical Characteristics, Skilled Swordsman, Afterimage Creation and Duplication (Can create after images of himself that disappear into thin air once defeated, but can move and fight independently of the original), Heat Manipulation, Energy Manipulation, limited Electricity Manipulation and limited Explosion Manipulation (Beam Katanas emit intense heat and when charged, they also emit large sparks of electricity and can be powered to full to cause explosions), Extrasensory Perception and Precognition (There are many examples of normal people in Suda51's games being capable of instinctually sensing or perceiving things they could otherwise not know, with some examples being shown by entire groups or populations of people. As a capable combatant, their instincts should be far superior to those of the average person, and even relatively low tier combatants are capable of sensing others' bloodlust or presence through their instincts), Instinctive Reaction (A fighter's instincts are honed as they become more powerful, with even people such as pro bikers being capable of entering a state where their bodies react to issues automatically and entire species of alien warriors being capable of fighting through sheer instinct. Various highly skilled fighters such as Travis Touchdown, Shinobu Jacobs or The Killer7 have shown the ability to predict attacks instinctually)

Attack Potency: Likely Building level, possibly City Block level (Able to match early game Travis and should not be much inferior to Shinobu Jacobs, especially since the only reason Death Metal stopped climbing the UAA's ranks was that he was satisfied with his position)

Speed: Hypersonic+ combat speed (Able to match early game Travis), likely Subsonic movement speed (Should be comparable to Travis)

Lifting Strength: Likely Class 50 (Is comparable to Travis, can easily fight with his huge sword, wielding it one-handed)

Striking Strength: Likely Building level, possibly City Block level

Durability: Likely Building level, possibly City Block level

Stamina: At least Peak Human. A very experienced killer, gave his final words without flinching despite having both his arms suddenly cut off.

Range: Extended Melee Range

Standard Equipment: A large curved beam katana called Orange-II

Intelligence: High. An experienced and skilled assassin.

Standard Tactics: Despite the sheer size of his weapon, Death Metal can wield it with extreme speed and dexterity, but often prefers to just perform simpler, wide-reaching single slashes, sometimes dashing forward while attacking. Most No More Heroes players aren't aware of this, but sometimes he will also use his free hand to grab the opponent and throw them on the ground. He can quickly change the distance between himself and the opponent by running or leaping, and can also attack during those jumps. When facing a tough opponent, Death Metal will create two clones of himself. While it is unknown how this is done and whether they are afterimages, illusions or real duplicates, they are capable of hurting enemies, but are much frailer than Death Metal himself. Compared to the original Death Metal, they seem to prefer using his faster combo attacks.
