Summary
Operator 21O is a major side character of NieR: Automata. She is a female model of the Type O (Operator) series of androids produced by YoRHa. She was created for the purpose of coordinating the actions of androids fighting the machines which have invaded the planet and analysing the information collected by those androids.

| 21O is the operator responsible for 9S. Even though she is cold and focused solely on her mission in the beginning of the game it is later revealed that she has the secret desire of creating a family.
After the defeat of Eve she volunteers to become a type B unit and participate in the large scale attack on the machines. However she gets infected alongside her comrades with the logic virus spread by the machines. As a result of this she loses control over her body. However gains a significant boost in power since the virus disables all safety limiters placed on an androids body. She also gains the ability to control nearby machine lifeforms. She meets 9S at the top of the "God Box" resource recovery unit. After a battle with him where she begs to be killed, she ultimately finds her peace when A2 strikes her down from behind. |
