War. War never changes. The end of the world occurred pretty much as we had predicted. Too many humans, not enough space or resources to go around. The details are trivial and pointless, the reasons, as always, purely human ones.
~ Ron Perlman's opening line to Fallout 2

In 2077, the storm of world war had come again. In two brief hours, most of the planet was reduced to cinders. And from the ashes of nuclear devastation, a new civilization would struggle to arise.
~ Ron Perlman as the Narrator

Summary

Fallout is a series of post-apocalyptic role-playing video games created by Interplay Entertainment, but bought by Bethesda Studios/ZeniMax. Although the series is set during the 22nd and 23rd centuries, its atom punk retro-futuristic setting and artwork are influenced by the post-war culture of 1950s America, and its combination of hope for the promises of technology, as well as the lurking fear of nuclear annihilation. A forerunner for Fallout is Wasteland, a 1988 video game of which the Fallout series is regarded to be a spiritual successor. Although the game worlds are different, the background story, inhabitants, locations, and characters draw many parallels.

Power of the Verse

Fallout is a decently powered post apocalypse verse with most humans at Street level physically, with a few notable individuals even reaching Wall level physically, such as Legate Lanius.

Their equipment can range anywhere from Street level guns and melee weapons with Wall level Power Armor to Building level miniature nuclear launchers.

Most mutants cap out around the humans' levels, but the more powerful mutants like Deathclaws, Nightkin and Super Mutants are Wall level for easily dispatching Power Armored individuals to Small Building level and Building level via sheer size and tanking Energy Weapons and mini-nukes.
